The Smithfield Cookbooks

The Woman’s Club of Smithfield has published two regionally acclaimed cookbooks celebrating our unique cuisine and local lore ( The Smithfield Cookbook, which is sold out;  and Continuing Traditions). A must for cookbook collectors, serious cooks, and lovers of Virginia and Southern history.

Please see our COOKBOOKS page for more information.

THE SMITHFIELD CALENDAR

is a vital fund raiser for our organization.  Each month features a pen and ink drawing of a local home, scene or architectural feature.  The entire Smithfield community  helps  this annual project with their support and advertising.  It enables us to provide donations to needy organizations and support our scholarship program.

COLLECT FOR CLUB WOMEN

Keep us, Oh God, from pettiness; let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.

Let us be done with fault-finding and leave off self-seeking.

May we put away all pretense and meet each other face to face without self-pity and without prejudice.

May we never be hasty in judgment and always generous.

Let us take time for all things; make us to grow calm, serene, gentle.

Teach us to put into action our better impulses, straightforward, and unafraid.

Grant that we may realize it is the little things in life that create differences, that in the big things in life we are one.

And may we strive to touch and to know the great, common human heart of us all,

And, oh Lord God, let us forget not to be kind!
